I have heard LOADS about the silicone sponges for a while now but never found the need to get one. I’ve been using my beautyblender for years & despite trying to pick up different brands to test out nothing comes close to my original sponge from beautyblender. To be honest what persuaded me to buy a silicone sponge was the fact that it’s a lot easier to clean and I don’t have to worry about trapped dirt.
So I’ve seen Korah Beauty advertised on my instagram and facebook quite a lot which is how I found out about them. Also the fact that it’s Australian was a plus because that means faster shipping for me. I got the Crystal Teardrop Miracle Blender. I like that it’s quite thick as opposed to other silicone sponges that are flat.
I also like that it is the perfect consistency as the sponge is not too firm.
I tested out the sponge using 3 types of foundation cream, clay and regular liquid foundation. (The foundations aren’t all my shade as my skin tone changes regularly but I just wanted to test out using various consistency of foundation)
I was pleasantly surprised when I blended out the cream foundation. The sponge blended out the foundation so easily and flawlessly. It made my skin look soo smooth. The one thing I like about this over a beautyblender is that when I use my beautyblender on cream foundation it tends to take a lot of product away so I have to use more foundation while with this silicone sponge a lot went a long way.
Just like the cream I was pleasantly surprised by this. Again it blended out so effortlessly and so smooth. Since clay foundation is quite thick a little goes a long way and I really think that is a huge plus.
This one as you can see did not work out that well for me. I don’t know if it’s because I used too much foundation or if it’s because it’s a lot more watery than the other two foundations but it did not do a good job blending out at all. I’ve never had a problem blending this foundation with my beautyblender or a brush so I know it’s not the actual foundation.
I dabbed some of the foundation off to see if it would be a bit better with less product but it still didn’t do a good job blending it out. I’ll have to test it out with other liquid foundations to see if it just doesn’t blend watery foundations well or if it’s not a great match with this particular foundation.
(UPDATE: I used way too much product & swiped it rather than blotting it! It actually turns out looking the same as the other two foundations did!)
Hope you guys enjoyed this post!
